Nonfiction and Memoir Writing

As a nonfiction and memoir writer, I’ve published a number of pieces online and in print, including this piece about my relationship with Paris and its fashionable residents, which was also published in the 2010 book, The Expeditioner’s Guide to the World.

I’ve also written for Salon.com about the guilt and confusion I felt after being diagnosed with melanoma in the 9th grade, and about why Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of the year in an essay published in another book, Thanksgiving Tales.

I’m currently working on several writing projects about atheism in the US military and about the peculiarities of grappling with German national guilt while growing up as German-American in United States.
